Synopsis

The book outlines the history of defibrillation in the USSR, Russia and Ukraine, confirmed by a large number of publications and documents. It was in the USSR, thanks to research by Naum Lazarevich Gurvich, that in 1952 the world's first commercial DC defibrillator appeared, and then in 1972 the world's first biphasic defibrillator. At the initiative of Boris Moiseevich Tsukerman in the USSR in 1959, for the first time in the world, the use of electrical impulse therapy for treatment of atrial fibrillation was started. The book presents all the defibrillators, serially produced in the USSR, Russia and Ukraine. The book includes the memoirs of Igor Viktorovich Venin, whose merit is the development of about half of the defibrillators produced in the USSR, Russia and Ukraine from 1952 to 2012.

*BORIS B. GORBUNOV is an engineer who took part in the development of 4 defibrillators. *IGOR V. VENIN is an engineer who, since 1966, led the development of 16 defibrillators. *VYACHESLAV A. VOSTRIKOV is a doctor of medical sciences, cardiologist, specialist in the field of electrical defibrillation of the heart.
