"History of Franklin County" by Opha Moore stands as a comprehensive and authoritative chronicle of one of Ohio's most vital regions. This first volume offers a detailed exploration of the county's development, tracing its transformation from a frontier wilderness into a center of political and economic influence. The work focuses heavily on the early pioneer era, the establishment of the seat of government in Columbus, and the civic milestones that shaped the area's growth through the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The narrative provides essential insights into the social, legal, and industrial foundations of the county. Moore highlights the contributions of prominent citizens and foundational families, making this an invaluable resource for both local historians and genealogical researchers. Through meticulous documentation of municipal progress, educational advancement, and the evolution of central Ohio's infrastructure, "History of Franklin County" captures the industrious spirit of its inhabitants. It remains a crucial foundational text for anyone seeking to understand the heritage of the American Midwest and the specific historical trajectory of Ohio's capital and its surrounding communities.
