Ex library, very good plus condition. Maps 1 to 15 all present. Maps are in near fine condition with minor handling marks. Map 1 has red ink smears on reverse. Map case is in good condition, some shelf wear, stain and stamp for the Papakura Camp Library on the front board, top of case is stained and discoloured, spine includes library number in black ink and traces of library label. Interior of flap has the Northern Military District Library, Auckland, stamp, a library number in black ink, a bar code for the Ministry of Defence Library and traces of a library label. Case includes a maker?s label to A. E. Walker Ltd, London. Lieutenant-General George McMunn entered the Royal Military Academy at Woolwich as a Second Lieutenant in 1888 and was a Major-General by 1917. He served in Upper Burma, South Africa, India, with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force and with the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force. For his services in the Great War at the Dardanelles and in Mesopotamia, he was mentioned in despatches 10 times. He retired in 1925 and became Colonel Commandant of the Royal Artillery, 1927-39, and Commissioner of The Royal Hospital, Chelsea, 1932-38, and Warden of Sackville College from 1929-52. Cyril Falls was an Irish-born military historian, academic and journalist, who served on the Western Front in the First World War. Military Operations Egypt and Palestine Volume I was the first of three volumes on the operations of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force (EEF) and the start of the Arab Revolt, the captures of Mecca, Wejh and Aquaba, with chapters on the Arab Revolt drafted by T. E. Lawrence.
