Reprint of scarce 1921 history of this northwestern Missouri county, including its topography, natural resources, early exploration by conquistadors and voyageurs, the Louisiana Purchase, native peoples, Mormon war, early American pioneers; mills, politics, courts, railroads, schools, churches, fraternal societies, the Civil War, journalism, later wars, reminiscences of early residents; over half the book is brief biographies of notable residents & their families. Starts at page [97], as called for in the table of contents; preceded by an index and short preface. Stout brown hardcover, gilt titling. Light wear to book, some INK UNDERLINING & NOTES top a few pages; minor damage to free endsheet (edge abraded, possibly a binding error); corners bumped, tiny tear to head of spine; no jacket likely as issued. [26], [97] to 855 pages; index, illustrations. Size: 7½" by 10½".
