"Edition de Luxe Limited to One Thousand Copies for England and America. 1906. Nine Volumes; 7 ¼ in. x 10 1/8 in. x 1½ in. (thick); each with a colored frontispiece, with tissue guards; each volume averages 300 or more pages, with prefaces by the editor (Jackson), list of illustrations, indexes. Illustrations include reproductions of black & white, historical photographs, (many are architectural, showing various sites, as well as, scenery, dress, etc.), and numerous various types of in-text illustrations, some of which are based on photographs. Many pages are unopened. Bound with maroon morocco leather spines, sides and corner-pieces, with five raised bands on the spines, and gilt titling, and gilt arabesque designs in compartments, and marbled paper over boards, top-edges gilt, with marbled endpapers; with the binder's stamp on the back of the endpapers: Bennett, N.Y. The spines show some degrees of age mottling to the leather surface, which varies from volume to volume, and an abrasion to one compartment of volume nine, light wear to some cover corners.
