History of India

History of India : Medieval History (Vol.2) by P.C. Jain, R.S Raman Volume Two explores the history of the period after 647 AD, the year of the death of Harshavardhana, the last of the Great Gupta kings. Within six-seven decades of his death the Arabs succeeded in occupying Sindh and Multan : the be-ginning of the era of Islamic occupation of Indian territories. A few early Rajput kingdoms organised and fought back but the Islamic influx could not be checked. This presence of Islamic powers on Indian land continued even after great Mughal Empire dis-integrated and finally collapsed giving way to re-gional powers. P. C. Jain, the editor of ‘History of India’, an instinctive poet, linguist and aesthetician, began his career in 1961 as a university teacher.
