Item description from seller

Later printing of Weems' hyperbolic hagiography of the first President, first published in 1800 shortly after Washington's death and intended as a moral tale for children; its veracity is debated by later scholars. Undated reprint of the "Mount Vernon Edition", first published in 1918 with a brief biography of Weems and new illustrations; here undated but possibly a 1929 printing, judging from a few cryptic bookseller's marks inside the rear cover. Hardcover, as pictured; general wear, corners bumped & rubbed, other small dents & bumps, spine darkened; no jacket. Text clean; 288 pages; 13 b/w illustrations, as called for. Size: Octavo.
