22cm, 288p., black cloth, gilt spine titles, produced on fragile paper, a fine copy. (On) Gourlay, a clergyman, was born in Tryone in Ireland, (1821-1904). He came to Canada in 1834 and was educated at Knox College, Toronto and at Princeton University. He was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1851. After several posts in the United States he spent his later years at Aylmer, Quebec.
