Boards rubbed with corners a bit exposed and some loss from spine head and foot of first volume, 2 inch stain on fore edge of second volume (only affects margin), bindings a bit shaken. 1892 Hard Cover. xi, 487; viii, 561 pp. Translated into English from the fourth German edition by Geo. S. Morris, with additions by the translator, an appendix on English and American philosophy by Noah Porter, and an appendix on Italian philosophy by Vincenzo Botta. An academic study of the evolution of philosophical theory, beginning with ancient Greek and Oriental philosophy, and including discussion of Patristic, Scholastic, Empiricist, Dogmatic, Skeptical, and Kantian systems, with sections on Fichte, Schelling, Hegel, Schleiermacher, Schopenhauer, Herbart, and Beneke.
