Second American edition. To which is prefixed a life of the author, by F.W. Blagden. 24mo. xxviii, viii, 169, [207]-216pp., illustrated with a woodcut frontispiece portrait. Contemporary small owner s name in ink on recto and verso of the front free endpaper. In the original mottled calf, gilt spine with black leather titling label. The boards are rubbed and chipped on the spine and back cover, moderate toning and scattered foxing, a good copy. Johnson s classic work, often compared to Voltaire s *Candide*.
