Item description from seller

2007 printing. Crisp, bright, clean pages; no owners' marks; one-quarter textured brown cloth hard cover (boards in blue cloth) shows a touch of softening at the spine heel and one tiny scratch at the lower spine; brown slipcase shows a small bump with concentric wrinkling at the bottom right open corner, as well as a few small, pale rub marks, otherwise very well-kept. xxvi, 771pp. This is a new abridgement of Dickson's classic English translation of Mommsen's towering history of ancient Rome. Sewn binding; blue silk bookmark; gilded head edges; a particularly striking design of Romulus and Remus with their wolf mother in gilt on the front board.; Map.
