Two volumes of this historical work by Thomas Arnold, the head master of Rugby School. Comprising of volumes II and III only. Volume II covers the Gaulish invasion to the end of the first Punic War. Volume III is from the end of the first to the end of the second Punic War. Both volumes are a New Edition of this work. At the time of his deaf his 'History of Rome' remained unfinished. It is one of Arnold's chief literary works. In half calf bindings with cloth covered boards. Externally, patches of rubbing to the joints and to the raised bands. Bumping and light rubbing to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Spotting to the first and last few pages. Otherwise, the odd spots to pages. Very Good.
