Boards have moderate dust stains and rubbing. Some flecking to cloth at margins of front board. Some foxing. A horizontal 3/4" tear to the spine cloth at head of the spine. No signatures.; v, [vi-viii], 428 pages + folding map frontispiece. Black cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine and front board. Page dimensions: 7 3/4" x 5". This 1909 edition adds an index. Hawaii. This 1909 edition includes some minor corrections and "elucidations of a few paragraphs not sufficiently plain for readers unfamiliar with the times and incidents alluded to" (see publisher's advertisement, page vi) to the text, and adds an index (pages 421-428).
