Brown blind-stamped cloth on boards; a small neat inscription in pencil. Covers are a little marked and rubbed/frayed to top and bottom of spine but overall very good condition. Clean throughout inside. Complete in itself: A volume of what must have been a multi-volume edition of James Bowden's work published in London by Charles Gilpin, 1850-54. There is no imprint to this effect although and the book correctly starts with a drawn illustration of Boston, "From Dorchester Neck" and then Chapters 6 to 11, so is complete in itself. Here is the detail of what is covered: Chapter VI. [Humphrey Norton's sufferings; John Rous (a letter and his facsimile signature on p.121); William Brend (letter and his facsimile signature); Mary Dyer; Mary Wetherhead; John Copeland; New Haven; William Leddra; imprisonment of Sarah Gibbons and Dorothy Waugh (letter and facsimile signature); Robert Hodgson; Richard Doudney, Mary Clark and Mary Wetherhead are shipwrecked and drowned; Boston etc.] on pages 99-114.
