About this Item
Very Good five-volume set in Fair dust jackets. Volume I lacks dust jacket. Blue cloth bindings remain sound and attractive with light shelf wear, rubbing, and minor fraying at extremities. Text blocks are clean and bright with no significant markings noted. Dust jackets on Volumes II?V exhibit age toning, staining, edge wear, tears, chipping, and losses, most notably to Volume III. Bindings remain tight and serviceable throughout. An attractive working and research set.
This influential Oxford University Press series traces the development of technology from the ancient world through the close of the nineteenth century. Written by leading historians of science and technology, the work examines transportation, metallurgy, manufacturing, agriculture, architecture, engineering, communication, and industrial development across civilizations and eras. Richly illustrated with diagrams, maps, technical drawings, and photographic plates.
Long regarded as one of the foundational reference works in the history of technology, these volumes remain widely cited by historians, engineers, industrial archaeologists, and scholars of scientific development. The series provides a comprehensive account of technological innovation from antiquity through the Industrial Revolution and into the late nineteenth century. Offered here as the original Volumes I?V sequence published between 1954 and 1958. Later supplementary volumes covering the twentieth century and index volumes were issued separately.
