About this Item

Three volumes. (336 + 324 + 324 pages). 12mo. Full tree calf, spines lettered in gilt on panels of red. Hinges are cracked but all intact, chipping to heads of spines, covers rubbed, generally a very good set, complete in 3 volumes. Some offsetting of plates to adjacent leaves, a few small ink ownership stamps. Each volume has a frontispiece, and inserted plates; 15 plates in total. Title pages are engraved with a design of a winged lectern. The plates are variously dated, from 1797 - 1809. Cooke published a number of editions of Tom Jones, beginning in c.1792, in sets of four volumes and later three volumes. Seller Inventory # 56757
