This edition is a facsimile of the original 1922 book. THe republication was produced by the Somme Association for the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme in World War I. Illustrations include a new eight-page colour plate section, photographs and six folding maps of battle scenes. The author, Cyril Falls, was a lieutenant in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers and Captain in the 36th Division.
