History Unveiling Prophecy; Or, Time as an Interpreter

History Unveiling Prophecy; Or, Time As An Interpreter by Henry Grattan Guinness. History Unveiling Prophecy: a detailed historical-interpretive study of the Apocalypse, arguing that history is the chief interpreter of prophecy. The author traces the unfolding meaning of prophetic visions from the apostolic era to modern times, presenting a continuous Protestant interpretation of Daniel and Revelation in opposition to Futurist readings. The volume surveys successive historic stages—Pre-Constantine Martyr Church, Post-Constantine Imperial Church, the Medieval stage, the Reformation, the Puritan era, and later centuries—showing how events in Christian history illuminate the symbolism of the Apocalyptic visions. It emphasizes the twelve-hundred-sixty year span of Papal dominion, develops the year-day theory of prophetic times, and presents astronomical tables to corroborate the cyclical nature of prophecy. The book culminates with the French Revolution and the fall of Papal temporal power, the rise of Zionism, and a projected culmination in the advent and Kingdom of God. It also defends the Protestant interpretation and critiques modern attempts to reframe or supersede it.
