The Hobbit Fourth Edition 1978

1978 First printing of the fourth edition, published by George Allen & Unwin. Unclipped dust jacket, fading to the spine, some spotting to the flaps, creasing, a couple of tears to the back panel, one to the top edge, another near the top at the left edge. Dark green cloth covers with faint liquid marks towards the top, bright gilt lettering to the spine, slight spine slant, green top edge dulled to a greyish green, securely bound, very light foxing to the edge of page block, plus two heavier spots, pages otherwise bright, no inscriptions. Good condition. This edition features map endpapers, with Thror's Map to the front and a map of Wilderland at the back, 13 illustrations by the author, 5 being full colour.
