Hold Fast to Jesus: An in-depth study of Hebrews (In-depth Bible Study Series by Elizabeth Ficken)

"Unfortunately, many Christians find the book of Hebrews simply too daunting to study for themselves. In Hold Fast to Jesus, Elizabeth comes alongside and guides the reader carefully through this important part of Scripture in a way that is clear and significant. In her works, Elizabeth has always demonstrated a keen ability to take the deep, perhaps complicated, aspects of Scripture and lead one to a proper understanding of the biblical text. She demonstrates this ability again with Hold Fast to Jesus. The one who joins her on this journey will learn to navigate the text, to appreciate its implications for living, to marvel at the greatness of Christ, and to hold fast to the Word of the Gospel. All the while, Elizabeth's humble spirit and infectious love for Jesus will be evident. I commend this study to anyone who would love to have a more profound faith in and love for Jesus." --Dr. Randall McKinion, Asst. VP for Academics, Asst. Professor for OT, Cedarville University

Whether we’re sailing through rough seas or smooth waters, our only hope is to hold fast to Jesus. He is the anchor for our souls. In this study of the personal, passionate letter of exhortation to “go on to maturity,” we’ll consider deep doctrines including the new covenant, atonement, holiness, and eternal salvation. We’ll worship the exalted Son of God who is our High Priest. We’ll be warned not to drift away from our great salvation. We’ll be encouraged to persevere through suffering as the great heroes of the faith did.

The letter to the Hebrews was written over 1900 years ago and it was written to a group of Christians who were well aware of the Jewish practices of worship. They may have been considering returning to Judaism. That probably doesn’t describe you today, but the main point of the letter is as vitally important now as it was then. Jesus is our great High Priest who has provided what no other priest of any religion ever could. The sacrifice of His sinless life makes forgiveness available to all who believe in Him as their Savior. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus and hold fast to Him. There is no one better!
