Holiday Decorations: A Collection of Inspired Gifts, Recipes, and Decorating Ideas (Holiday Series)

Presents decorating and gift ideas with suggestions and projects to adorn the table, mantel, windows, doors, and the Christmas tree

If December finds visions of sugar plums dancing in your head, chances are this book is for you. Stuffed like a stocking full of unique decorating ideas, it's a helpful guide to creating a bright and cheerful home for your holidays. And with its overriding theme of providing "projects that are simple to do and that use materials that are familiar and easy to find," you don't have to be a journeyman carpenter to pull these designs off.

Granted, the book is presented with a decidedly American Christmas slant, but with separate chapters addressing door and window treatments, mantel pieces, table settings, tree decorations, and holiday desserts, there are several elegant decorations which could be suitable for just about any festive, non-denominational atmosphere. While there is a general lack of diagrams to guide you through the steps, each project does includes simple directions, a helpful list of required materials, and lovely photographs giving a full-color example of each finished piece. --George Laney
