Holistic Tarot : An Integrative Approach to Using Tarot for Personal Growth

The best-selling guide to the tarot from celebrated occultist and scholar Benebell Wen—history, practice, and 500+ illustrations and spreads

Designed for beginning as well as experienced tarot readers, Holistic Tarot offers a fresh and easy-to-follow approach to the tarot for divination, self-knowledge, and tapping into your creativity and subconscious self.

The power of the tarot lies in the cards'—and the reader’s—ability to channel a clear path for deep wisdom and intuition to shine through. Consulting the tarot can help clear creative blockages, clarify ambitions, work through complex decisions, discover what fulfills you, and make sense of your emotions and relationships. Whether for simple decision-making or to understand your life's purpose, learning the tarot is an indispensable tool for being more mindful of the factors that can assist or weaken your efforts toward success.

In this modern classic, Benebell Wen provides a complete guide to using the tarot, offering a comprehensive overview of:

• The history of the tarot: its evolution, uses, and relationships to Chinese divination practices, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Jungian archetypal psychology, and Egyptian mythology
• How to choose and care for your tarot deck
• A detailed anatomy of the Rider-Waite-Smith system
• Learning and practice methods: techniques for shuffling, cutting, and drawing cards; interpreting Court Cards; and reading spreads
• Applications of tarot to key life areas: tarot and love; tarot and professional development; the 5 Components of Circumstance; and more
• Appendices with quick-reference guides for spreads, astrological symbols, elements, numerology (including Life Path numbers and Decisive Age) and journal templates

Beginners will find a complete guide to working with the tarot, including choosing and caring for a deck; how best to learn and remember the attributes of the major and minor arcana; interpretations of cards and spreads; the role of meditation in a tarot practice; and using the tarot to elevate relationships, professional development, and personal resilience.

Advanced practitioners will enjoy nuanced theoretical discussions of the tarot as well as practical advice about reading others' tarot cards and setting up a practice. Featuring more than 500 illustrations and detailed information on each card—as well as numerous spreads—Holistic Tarot is a complete compendium of tarot study that every practitioner should have in their library.
