Large, thick quarto [11.50 tall x 9.00 wide x 3.00 thick]. Collates complete [10], 1244pp. Clean coloured lithographic title plus printed titles to both Old & New Testaments. Text in double columns with marginal references. An excellent, clean and crisp copy. Text block edged in gilt. Finely bound by Blackwell of Reading . Binders mark to inner front board. Dark brown calf over thick boards. Edges lightly rubbed, hinges carefully strengthened. Large central cross to the front board [5.00 tall]. Also silver corners and working clasps. Spine with five raised bands and lettered Holy Bible in gilt. All silver hallmarked with London 1882 and the makers mark T.S.M . Inner gilt rule, over gold moire (watered silk) endpapers. An uncommon imprint, and presented in an attractive Scottish binding together with an Edinburgh imprint of the Book of Psalms. Minor marks, light blemishes or reading wear commensurate with age. Two leaves with outer marginal paper wear/loss, touching small letters of text. Otherwise a good, sound and clean copy in the main. [PSALMS] Collates complete A-C12. Good, sound and clean copy of this uncommon imprint of the Psalms of David. Dated 1727. Minor marks, blemishes or reading wear else a good complete copy. Both works bound together in an attractive contemporary black calf binding. Raised bands and gilt décor to the spine. Front and rear boards with faded gilt décor to the corners and with the initials S.H. in gilt to both boards. Large metal cross with the initials HIS to the front board. Inner gilt dentelles to the front and rear boards with marbled endpapers.
