The bible was a gift by the people of Huntsham Parish church for the assistance given by Robert Trefusis in the restoration of Huntsham Parish Church prior to his going to Oxford and entering the ministry and subsequently becoming Bishop of Crediton. There is a list of subscribers who contributed to the gift with a full page inscription. The family register page records Robert Trefusis immediate family history with the dates of his children's birth , godparents etc. The brown, speckled full leather bible has a decorative frame, bevilled edge, and a central brass inscribed shield / cartouche dated 1862.There are 5 raised bands on spine, brass clasp, and all page edges gilt. Two illuminated title pages, illustrated plates, and a fold out map which has tears and creases. Double text columns. Overall condition is good although the title page is creased and there is light brownnig on the page with family history and sporadic foxing on the occasional page. The hinges are good though weakening. Size -320mm. x 255mm.(Folio). Heavy book so will necessitate additional shipping charge depending on destination. Seller Inventory # 003639
