About the Author
Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall was a prominent British Muslim scholar, novelist, and translator, who is best known for his English translation of the Quran, titled "The Meaning of the Glorious Qur'an".Pickthall was born in London in 1875, and grew up in a well-to-do family with strong ties to the Church of England. However, in his early twenties, he became disillusioned with Christianity and began to explore other faiths. He eventually converted to Islam in 1917, after studying the religion for several years. As a Muslim, Pickthall became deeply committed to promoting a more accurate and sympathetic understanding of Islam in the West. He believed that the Quran was a powerful tool for promoting peace and understanding between different cultures and religions, and he dedicated much of his life to translating and interpreting the text for English-speaking audiences.
