Home Sweet Home: Arkansas Rescue Dogs & Their Stories

Dogs don't care what you look like, what you do for a living, or how old you are. They're most interested in what's in your heart. Sadly, all dogs aren't treated they way they deserve to be. Many suffer abuse, or roam the streets and woods alone. With the hope of encouraging adoption and fostering of rescue dogs, and generosity of time and treasure to local shelters and organizations, Home Sweet Home shares the images and stories of 25 Arkansas rescue dogs. Inspired by her own furry family members, author Grace Vest shares how a simple choice to adopt can rescue canines and humans alike.

Through 25 beautiful images and stories, you'll meet dogs like Frankie, the first dog trained to detect thyroid cancer, found in a shopping center parking lot in Little Rock; Rocky, a shining soul found in a New Orleans attic following Hurricane Katrina; and Teddy, surrendered by three families, who found his match in a woman who depends on him to calm her during panic attacks.

Grace loves spending time with her husband, Patrick and being a mommy to their young son, Townsend. Grace and her family currently own three rescue animals: a lab named Norma, a beagle named Champ and a three-legged cat named Kitty. When it comes to animals, Grace's motto is "Adopt don't shop!" When Grace isn't out trying to save an animal, she is organizing marketing projects and facilitating communication across the departments at Team SI-a digital marketing firm in Little Rock. She thrives on challenges, particularly those that expand a company's reach. Raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, Grace earned her degree in journalism and communications from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
