Home/Body

"In Home/Body, Georgia Ressmeyer writes of and from the energy in lake and landscapes near her Sheboygan home, but she celebrates more than the homebody’s love of what is nearby. Separating the two parts of the title word, she suggests another theme: the body as home. That 'body as home' may falter as it does in her poems about cancer or memory loss. But it is also wonderful. It offers sensory delight, for example, in a bird’s 'six-note trill' or in winter clouds that appear as 'stacks of mattresses.' Ressmeyer is keenly alert to "life/as it pulses with and against you.' In the music of her language, she offers a sense of balance, of gliding 'with/grace you’ve been granted,/glad for the ride as you go.'” --Margaret Rozga, author of Pestiferous Question: A Life in Poems
