Gr 9 Up-A revision of The Homeless (Greenhaven, 1990). Of the five chapters featured in this edition, two remain the same; two others have either been overhauled or have experienced a change in focus. A new chapter, "How Can Society Help the Homeless?" typifies the inherent modifications throughout a text that accommodates current developments and controversies in an ever-evolving societal debate. The number of essays per chapter varies from four to eight, with questions for consideration preceding them and a list of periodicals for further reading concluding each discussion. Gone are the critical-thinking activities that concluded each chapter in the earlier title, but a section at the end of the book poses additional questions per chapter. An updated list of organizations to contact includes a brief overview of the purpose and philosophy of each one. The list for further reading has been greatly extended. An indispensable companion to the number of other titles currently available on the subject. Celia A. Huffman, Worthington Public Library, OH
