About the Author
Dr. Marlene M. Coleman has lived in a condominium community in Los Angeles for the past twenty-five years. She has held positions as a Committee and Board member, as well as served two terms as President of the Board of her Community Association-having turned it around from near disaster. She is also actively involved in both state and national Community Association organizations. Dr. Coleman is Associate Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Southern California Medical School and an Attending Physician in College Health at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California. She is a ten-year top executive in a medical liability protection company. Dr. Coleman is also the author of Safe and Sound: Healthy Travel with Children (Globe Pequot Press, 2003) and Start Your Own Medical Practice (Sphinx Publishing, 2006).
Judge William Huss is a full-time mediator and arbitrator, overseeing individual, institutional, and corporate cases, and he was named one of the Master Mediators by Verdict Magazine. Judge Huss retired from the Los Angeles Superior Court after presiding over both civil and criminal trials. He also served on the Los Angeles Superior Court Executive Committee and was the Chair of the Education Subcommittee. He is the cofounder and five-year President of a mediation and arbitration company. Judge Huss has been a Board Member and President of his Community Association, served on the Legal Committee for over twenty years-sixteen of them as Chairman-and is an associate member of the California Association of Community Managers. Judge Huss is the author of Start Your Own Law Practice (Sphinx Publishing, 2005) and is completing Shake On It, a book on negotiation and mediation.
