Hope from the Pure Land Way in Unnerving Times

An inspiring book of essays, poems, and prints exploring the Pure Land Way of Buddhism

The historical person who first gained enlightenment, Gautama Shakyamuni, acknowledged the great difficulties in trying to become enlightened in this world.

Therefore, in addition to the path of meditation, he also taught the Pure Land Way, in which we rely on the assistance of Amitābha Buddha to help us gain our enlightenment.

We establish a relationship with Amitābha by saying his name in little batches throughout our day. When, eventually, our moment of death arrives, Amitābha will be there to help us and bring us back to the Pure Land he created through eons of spiritual discipline. It is a realm of great spiritual power where enlightenment comes in one lifetime. Then, as Buddhas, we can begin to truly help ease the heart sufferings of other beings.
