Toward the Horizon: Life Beyond Metastatic Cancer (Paperback or Softback)

"Febre's best work! Cancer came for the author in the first book, and hid from her in the second. Now it's part of her life and Febre's whispering back-'I'm coming for you, Cancer...'" -Cam Torrens, bestselling author of the Tyler Zahn mystery/suspense series

In Lisa Febre's ongoing battle with Stage-4C Colon Cancer, the mysterious metastases in her liver reappear in scans, prompting her oncology team to take quick action. Back in treatment, Lisa copes with the familiar side effects while dealing with the existential despair of a recurrence of the disease.

But living with cancer is no longer a lonely journey. Unlike her first round of treatments which happened during the COVID pandemic, this time she gets the much-needed human contact she thrives on. She draws strength and inspiration from the women she has met along the way. While fighting for their own lives, these brave survivors help Lisa face her future with courage and resolve, teaching her it's okay to lean on her friends for support.

Being forced to look deep inside to find the energy to fight the Abdominable one more time, Lisa comes to fully appreciate the quiet and healthy moments she might otherwise overlook. Living a full life between the waves of fear and uncertainty takes bravery, strength, and hope.

This third installment of Lisa's cancer memoir is filled with resilience, positivity, and brutal yet refreshing honesty. You'll never view cancer the same way again.

Lisa Febre can now call herself the award-winning author of Round the Twist and Welcome to the Bright. Although she received the devastating news that she had Stage-4C Colon Cancer in 2021, she has found unexpected joy in writing, learning, and speaking about her cancer diagnosis. She continues to perform on stage with her cello and go hiking with her dogs. Lisa lives in Chatsworth, California, with her husband Louis, son Andrew, and rescue dogs Dusty and Luna. After finishing this book, Lisa's health rapidly declined. She passed away on September 8, 2025, in the company of her husband, her family, and her dogs.
