Published 1911, Paris by Libraire Agricole de La Maison Rustique.24 bi-weekly issues, 588 pages. Text in French. Illustrated throughout with 24 fine color lithographed (chromolithographed) plates of primarily flowers and fruits, a couple of insects. Publisher's lettered and pictorial paper covered boards, deckled edges, with all indexes and extensive scientific text. Scholarly journal filled with beautifully printed color lithographs, apparently produced using 19th century printing equipment and methods. Book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time. Book is not new or in "new" condition. Binding gently age worn, paper spine cracked at ends of joints but still holding well, mostly light or inoffensive signs of handling and time but nothing severe or unsightly, book remains overall attractive as an object. Paper is gently toned, still clean, tight, sound internally. The color plates are all clean and nice, a couple may have some tissue guard adhesion which is easy to remedy with a damp sponge (since the plate paper is coated stock so water resistant as always with chromolithographed plates. Still attractive on the shelf. The book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in overall nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws which may be present seem easy to overlook or forgive. Please review photos for more detail showing how this book survives. The asking price reflects the condition based on our examination and 35+ years full time exposure to antiquarian books, maps and printed ephemera of all types and genres.
