Hospitality Innovation Management

The importance of innovation as the key driver of sustained success has been well documented in the marketing and hospitality literature. In the past decade, several studies have investigated the success factors associated with service innovations. Few of these studies, however, have dealt with hospitality innovations. Executives from fast moving consumer goods companies have been attracted to the hospitality and leisure industry by the opportunity to transform businesses perceived as lagging behind in terms of brand development and innovation. Despite similarities between the hospitality and consumer goods sectors, those we spoke to referred to a marked distinction between how the sectors currently operate and future opportunities for growth. Asia Pacific, especially China, is expected to produce massive growth, as is Europe – still a fragmented sector due to the proliferation of family owned companies.
