Coral red colour hardcover with title in gilt on spine. Condition: Good, with light shelfwear to covers. Prize bookplate dated 1956 on front pastedown. Some light foxing and browning to endpapers, as well as light foxing to edges of textblock. Dustjacket condition: Fair, generally shelfworn, with sunning to spine and a vertical two inch wide strip to the front cover of the jacket where it meets the spine. Not price-clipped. Some foxing and browning to inner flaps of jacket. 184pp. 110 b/w illustrations. This book, written by the architect Colin Penn in 1954 is very much of its era and is aimed at the layman who might be considering designing their own home with the help of an architect. It includes chapters on planning, construction, heating and lighting, finishes and fitments and costs and finance.
