Very good used hardcover. Bumped corners, sun-faded spine. The Fourth Edition of the Howard and Moore Checklist of the Birds of the World has been published in two volumes: Volume 1 - Non-passerines and Volume 2 - Passerines. This is a new edition of a major reference work and most respected scientific checklist of birds of the world. It has been updated to reflect the considerable change in our understanding of the evolution of birds derived from the study of their DNA over the past decade; thus the Cracraft sequence adopted in 2003 is completely revised here.The new edition also reflects revisions to species and subspecies. Evaluation, as before, is based on the Biological Species Concept, carefully and conservatively applied. Range statements have been revised, particularly for the Americas. Overall the number of footnotes and references cited about doubles.

Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized, extra shipping may be required. Domestic shipping: Economy is $5 for one book and $1 for each additional book. Expedited is $9 for one book and $2 for each additional book. International shipping: Our base economy rate pays for a USPS Priority Mail flat-rate envelope. This accommodates most small books. Larger books may be shipped in a flat-rate box. The cheapest method for international shipping is USPS Priority Mail. Other methods are available, and will be quoted upon request. Orders usually ship in 2 business days or less. If delivery is needed faster than the expedited 2-6 day delivery, please ask for a quote. We can offer services as fast as Next Day Air.
