Howell

Images of Howell features vintage photographs of Howell, most of which have never before been published. This visual documentation spans the decades from the 1850s to the 1950s, telling the story of Livingston Centre, known today as the city of Howell. Unique images in this volume include turn-of-the-century street fairs and parades, the first paving of the Grand River, and World War I inductees marching to the courthouse to be sworn in to federal service. Furthermore, historically significant photographs document Howell's cultural the courthouse, Carnegie Library, and the Opera House. Finney Jr. is a recipient of awards from the Michigan Council for the Social Studies and the Daughters of the American Revolution as Michigan’s American History Teacher of the Year. Featured in documentaries, Finney is a popular speaker for historical and genealogical societies, libraries, and professional organizations. Judith L. McIntosh is a retired educator and former docent for the University of Michigan’s Kelsey Museum. A digital information specialist, her expertise is photographic restoration and multimedia presentations.
