Taking his inspiration from decorative forms from the past, Hubert Le Gall creates furniture that is at once poetic and functional, such as his 'Pot de Fleurs' chair and 'Goutte d'herbe' commode, juxtaposing ideas in surprising ways and playing on shape, light and colour. While he works in a variety of materials, including wood, glass, resin and ceramic, his favourite medium is bronze. Following a period inspired by botanical forms, he is currently exploring a poetic bestiary.

Hubert Le Gall's work embellishes contemporary restaurants, private living spaces and the dining room of the Mayor of Paris. Since 1996 it has been displayed at the Avant-Sc�ne gallery in Paris. Numerous pieces are now in museum collections, including the Mus�e des Beaux Arts in Montreal, the Mus�e des Arts D�coratifs in Paris and the Mus�e de La Piscine in Roubaix.

About the Author

The French designer Hubert Le Gall, born in 1961, began his career as a painter and portrait artist before turning to sculpture, furniture and exhibition design, notably for M�lancolie at the Grand Palais and the Fragonard show at the Mus�e Jacquemart Andr�.
