Original Hudson's Bay Company Calendar. Minor crinkles from being previously rolled, a crease near bottom and small spots of decolouration on the top boarder. Only December left on calendar pad. Overall good condition. The size is 76.5cm x 46.5cm, or 30" x 18.25". Large illustration with the caption "John Pritchard "Taken by the Ice" on the Abitibi, 1814". 15 3/4" X 24 7/8". Original calendar from 1962. One page calendar with printed date blocks for four months (September, October, November and December). Date blocks displayed below a large colour photograph that takes up two-thirds of the page. Lacking the metal rail along the top. Two holes at the top of the calendar so that it could be hung up. Overall a nice calendar in good condition. The image on the calendar is Fort Langley, British Columbia. Fort Langley was established by the HBC in 1827 and is now a National Historic Park. Artist: George Hunter. Between 1913 and 1970, the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) produced a calendar annually and distributed it free of charge through its department stores, various administrative offices and trading posts. Though the amount produced each year varied it averaged about one hundred thousand. These calendars now represent important Canadian history ephemera and are rare, particularly the ones produced between 1913 and the 1950s. Horizontal crease in the centre of the calendar. Two small, one centimetre stains, one on the image. Overall a clean calendar in very good condition. The image on the calendar is Grand Falls, Labrador -- John McLean of the Hudson's Bay Company discovered the Grand Falls in 1839, during his descent of the Hamilton River. Although the Falls were known to Montagnais and Naskapi Indians few others saw them until the outbreak of the World War II. Now the hydro-electric potential of the region is being developed by the British Newfoundland Corporation Limited. (From description on the date pad). Original Hudson's Bay Company Calendar. 77.5cm x 46.8cm, or 30.5" x 18.5". Gray background with large colourful image taking up roughly 2/3 of calendar. Metal rails at top and bottom. Light creasing along the edges from being rolled up. Calendar pad dated February 1953. A nice calendar, in good condition. Artist: George Franklin Arbuckle. Illustration with the caption, "Ambassadress of Peace". In 1715 there was war between the Chipewyans of the Barrens and the Crees of the Woods. One day the Crees brought in as a prisoner to York a Chipewyan woman, who told Governor James Knight that if the Crees would only let her people alone, they could bring many furs to York Factory. Under the masterful guidance of the "Slave Woman", a tense standoff with the Chipewyans, Crees and the HBC was resolved, and the Crees and Chipewyans parted as friends; the foundations for a peaceful trading relationship had been laid.
