The Hum: An Extraordinary Journey of Awakening (Paperback or Softback)

The Hum is Everywhere. Do you hear it?
A family tragedy shocks young Gordy Love into a powerful dream that transports him from his California home to New Island, a place where certain laws of physics have been altered by Hum energy. Most of the Islanders hear, feel and enjoy the Hum, as does Gordy.
It is 1964, the Cold War is on, and the Soviet Navy controls the Island. When Gordy literally washes ashore, he is promptly arrested and charged with espionage. But two Islander lunchroom servers see the Hum in his eyes when they bring him his meals. They not only free him, but launch him on an epic journey that will change them all, including a sorceress-scientist named Roselin.
After years of research, Roselin Bell realizes the Hum has a dangerous dark side. When a mysterious explosion destroys an entire Islander tribe, she knows the disaster was her fault!
Will the Hum’s dark side trigger a worldwide catastrophe? Will Gordy be able to save Roselin from herself? Find out in this coming-of-age journey of loss, love, discovery and redemption.

Lee has always been fascinated by beaches, waves, and the ocean's energy. He grew up on the California coast and began drawing "scenes I'd like to see", while in grade school. He studied art after high school, eventually achieving a BS degree in Art at Western Oregon University in 1980. Lee also co-owned a communal hot springs resort, and spent a few years as a freelance carpenter to pay the bills. But his love of drawing and painting never wavered. He met his wife Vicki in 1983 while building his own house on the Oregon Coast, and with their growing family, moved to Kaukauna, Wisconsin in 1987. The irony of being away from the ocean compelled Lee to spend more time painting far-away coastlines from imagination and strange dreams. In 1990 he began exhibiting his work full-time, primarily through art fairs, and eventually launched his website, www.oceansanddreams.com. In 1995 Lee began to assemble his dream scenes into an imaginary island-nation he calls The Commonwealth of New Island. He found he could create an entirely new place, with images, maps, a history, climate and its own quirky culture partly inspired by his years on the California coast. Lee has recently published a complete travel guide to the island, "The New Island Guidebook", available on Amazon. His debut novel, "The Hum" takes place there. Go to www.newisland.net to visit New Island, and see it for yourself.
