Among the topics discussed are the genetics of the photopigments; the anatomy and physiology of photoreceptors, and retinal and cortical pathways; color perception; the effects of disorders; theories on neuronal processes and the evolution of human color vision. The book gives a comprehensive overview of the different disciplines in human color vision in a way that makes it accessible to specialists and non-specialist scientists alike. This new edition of Human Color Vision features expanded clinical coverage and includes new chapters on Age-dependency in Color Vision and Higher Levels of Color Vision Psychophysics.
Jan Kremers, PhD, is Professor of Experimental Ophthalmology at the Section for Retinal Physiology, University Hospital Erlangen, Erlangen, Germany. He has more than 40 years of experience in vision research and has worked at several institutions in Germany, the Netherlands, France and Switzerland and has ongoing collaborations worldwide.
Rigmor C. Baraas, PhD, is Professor of Optometry and Visual Science at the National Centre for Optics, Vision, and Eye Care, University of South-Eastern Norway, Kongsberg, Norway. She received her research training at the University of Manchester, UK, over 20 years ago. Since then, she has been conducting research into the visual system, combining the study of optics, retinal structure, genetics, and color perception with an aim to understand the functional implications of normal, inherited, and age-related structural changes.
