About the Author

C. Ward Kischer, Ph.D., is associate professor emeritus at the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. He taught human embryology to medical students for more than three decades.

Dianne N. Irving, Ph.D., is professor of philosophy/bioethics at Dominican House of Studies and Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She also served as a career-appointed biochemist at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md.
