Add to basketGeorge H. Doran and Co. NY. "The Human Machine" by Arnold Bennett. STATED AUTHORS EDITION, no date given, believed to be 1911? Book is in Very Good+ Condition with no DJ. It has a lovely tan cloth binding with a slightly darker brown reinforced spine, has bright Art Nouveau styled lettering to front with title and authors name, in gilt, burgundy and black, Spine to has title in gilt. Has Very slight edge wear to spine. Inside front and back 2 pages in each are better quality glossy paper. Noted very slight foxing on front and back few pages, and a few passages underlined in pencil. Also noted a very small break somewhere in center. The rest of the book however is very clean and tightly bound. From Title page: The Human Machine b Arnold Bennett Author or "How to live on 24 hours a day" "The old Wives Tale" etc. Also has ad on opposite page with other books by the author. The next page has on top left; "Authors Edition", followed by Table of contents. Appears to be an early type of "Self Help" book with chapters titled "Taking oneself for granted, Amateurs in the art of Living, The brain as a gentleman at large, Habit forming by concentration, What Living chiefly is", etc. A peak into the minds of early 20th century People. 0.
