A Human Portrait of Jesus: Reflecting on the Gospels

"Many Christians are comfortable thinking of Jesus as their Savior, with all his divine attributes; recognizing his fully human elements, on the other hand, is more challenging. Holding these two truths in equal tension is not easy."

“Jesus's humanity allows him to identify with our human experience and at the same time gives us grounds to follow him in obedience to his heavenly Father's will. Thanks to Father Anselmo's book, we have a good guide to the human portrait of Jesus in the Gospels."
―from the foreword

A Human Portrait of Jesus reveals the interiority of Jesus as it has been recorded in the accounts of the Gospels. It begins with the Gospel of Mark and then explores the specific traits of the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. Finally, the Johannine Jesus, although it emphasizes that he is omniscient and omnipotent, strongly shows his emotions and affection toward his disciples and friends.
