Human Trafficking Applying Research, Theory, and Case Studies for Social Workers and the Helping Professions

Human Trafficking: Applying Research, Theory, and Case Studies for Social Workers and the Helping Professions provides readers with the knowledge and research they need to better understand the meaning and scope of human trafficking. The second edition features new science, emerging and best practices, promising interventions, and updated content throughout.

The book presents a holistic approach to understanding human trafficking, facilitating practice at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels, and taking action. Dedicated chapters address intersectionality and economies of human trafficking, theories to apply at all levels of practice, collective impact and individual action as responses to human trafficking, and more. Factual case studies are included throughout the text to bridge the gap between knowledge and application in real-world environments and situations, as well as discussion of complex issues and implications for practice. All key terms, class discussion questions, exercises, project assignments, and suggestions for further learning have been updated for the second edition.

The first edition of Human Trafficking received the 2019 Robert W. Hamilton Book Award, the University of Texas at Austin's highest honor of outstanding scholarship and creativity.
