From the Zarma culture of West Africa comes this folk tale of a hunter who must overcome an impossible challenge before he can marry the girl he loves."Overall, The Hunter and the Ebony Tree is a responsible and charming retelling of a Zarma tale and would be a good choice for an elementary school library seeking to expand its collection in this area. As such, this book is recommended."--Reviewed by Fiona McLaughlin, Department of African and Asian Languages and Literatures, University of Florida for H-NET BOOK REVIEW
