Hierbei werden die gesellschaftlichen, psychologischen und sozialen Entwicklungen im Wien der Jahrhundertwende kunstvoll mit uralten Motiven der abendl�ndischen Kultur verwoben. Psychoanalyse und die Wiener Frauenfrage spiegeln sich in der Erz�hlung ebenso wie griechische Mythen und die Philosophie Schopenhauers. Ein textkritische Apparat sowie die Darlegung der Stoffgeschichte gehen besonders auf die Entstehung der Erz�hlung ein.
