Kaelen is a Diver. A scarred scavenger who free-dives into the deadliest layers of the crater to salvage ancient technology, he is addicted to the "Rapture"-the euphoric high of near-asphyxiation. He is reckless, lethal, and slowly dying from the toxicity he craves.

When Kaelen kidnaps Elara to guide him to the crater's floor, their survival becomes a desperate negotiation. Elara needs his oxygen tanks to keep breathing; Kaelen needs her bleeding lungs to navigate the invisible, shifting currents of death.
