William Morrow and Company, Inc., New York, 1971. Book Club Edition. Book Condition / Dust Jacket Condition: Book: Very Good +; Clean, square, and solid. Light edge toning and mild age-appropriate wear. Pages are clean and unmarked, text crisp. Spine lettering clear and unfaded. No structural issues . Dust Jacket: Very Good ?; Present and unclipped. Noticeable edge wear, surface soiling, and age toning, with rubbing along folds and some staining near the top edge. Still attractive and fully intact. (see photos) Original French title: La Nuit des Temps (1968). Translation published in the United States in 1971. This is a Book Club Edition of the first U.S. edition, distinguished by the absence of a price on the dust jacket and the BCE notation on the jacket flap. Not a trade first, but still desirable in jacket. A haunting blend of science fiction, romance, and philosophical inquiry, The Ice People begins with the discovery of a mysterious golden sphere buried deep in Antarctic ice, containing the perfectly preserved bodies of a man and woman from a long-lost civilization. As scientists unravel their story, Barjavel explores love, memory, war, and the cyclical rise and fall of human civilizations. Often compared to the works of Jules Verne and Isaac Asimov, the novel combines speculative science with deep emotional resonance and social critique. Seller Inventory # 001688
