Synopsis

El nombre de Reinhart Koselleck ha pasado a la posteridad por ser, junto a Werner Conze y Otto Brunner, el editor del portentoso diccionario �Conceptos hist�ricos fundamentales. L�xico hist�rico del lenguaje pol�tico-social en Alemania�, del que se han extra�do las tres voces que se re�nen en el presente volumen. Koselleck fue el principal proveedor de las directrices program�ticas de esa cartograf�a conceptual de la modernidad, a la par trabajo te�rico y de campo, historia conceptual uncida a una teor�a de los tiempos hist�ricos. En el lapso temporal cubierto por dicho programa, de 1750 a 1850, se forja y adquiere pregnancia la tr�ada conceptual aqu� propuesta: lustraci�n, progreso, modernidad. A la primicia conceptual y terminol�gica de la Ilustraci�n le es inherente una conciencia de ruptura que llega a su apoteosis con la Revoluci�n francesa y anuncia la mudanza del mismo concepto de revoluci�n, que de significar previamente un movimiento c�clico y recurrente pasa a mentar un acontecimiento �nico e irrepetible y a inaugurar un futuro ignoto. Aqu� se inCuba la modernidad entendida como un tiempo nuevo, el de la aceleraci�n, que, para autoafirmarse, se ve constre�ido a desgajar de s� lo que lo refuta, esto es, lo antiguo, recurriendo a la estrategia de emanciparse compulsivamente de la tradici�n. El progreso, etimol�gicamente �paso hacia delante�, es decantaci�n hacia el futuro. El siglo de las Luces, el ingreso en la �poca moderna, la era del progreso, constituye as� uno de los episodios �lgidos del �futurocentrismo�.

About the Authors

Reinhart Koselleck (1923-2006) fue catedr�tico de Teor�a de la historia en la Universidad de Bielefeld y miembro de diversas academias y colegios cient�ficos. Historiador, pensador y erudito transdisciplinar, se lo conoce como el principal te�rico de la llamada �historia conceptual�. Recibi�, entre otras distinciones, el premio Sigmund Freud de prosa cient�fica. En esta misma Editorial se han publicado historia/Historia (3.� edici�n en 2016), una de sus m�s importantes contribuciones a Conceptos hist�ricos fundamentales; Cr�tica y crisis. Un estudio sobre la patog�nesis del mundo burgu�s (2007), que incluye como ap�ndice el art�culo �Crisis�, escrito tambi�n por Koselleck para el mencionado diccionario, e Historias de conceptos (2012), selecci�n de trabajos de su �ltimo legado intelectual.

Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht (1948) se doctor� en la Universidad de Constanza con Hans Robert Jauss. Ocupa la c�tedra Albert Gu�rard en los departamentos de Literatura Comparada, Franc�s e Italiano de la Universidad de Stanford. Especialista en literatura y cultura medievales, adem�s de en las literaturas alemana, espa�ola y francesa, colabor� inicialmente en el programa de la historia conceptual, para distanciarse m�s tarde, como demuestra su Dimensionen und Grenzen der Begriffsgeschichte (2006). Es autor tambi�n de Production of Presence. What Meaning Cannot Convey (2004) y Elogio de la belleza atl�tica (2006).

Horst Stuke (1928-1976) se doctor� en la Universidad de M�nster con Joachim Ritter, que lo inici� en el hegelianismo. Posteriormente, colaborar� con Werner Conze en Heidelberg, donde este hab�a fundado, en 1957, el Grupo de trabajo interdisciplinar de historia social moderna. Fue gestor administrativo de dicho grupo hasta su traslado a la Universidad de Fr�ncfort del Meno, donde en 1972 ocupar� la c�tedra de Historia social y econ�mica.
