IMPACT OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY ON LIBRARIES AND EDUCATIONAL COMMUNITIES

From the dawn of the last quarter of the 20th century, especially from the mid-1990s, Indian university libraries have made provision for electronic information resources and services. The main intention of making provision for electronic information resources and services was to improve the quality of library services for the benefit of academic community. The university libraries in Tamil Nadu are also making considerable efforts in this direction. The author wishes to conduct a study about the user pattern of electronic information resources in the University libraries in Tamil Nadu, because the present book focuses on the seamless usability of the electronic information resources and its growth, development and maximum use of these most modern electronic information are taken for a clear cut analysis and assessment. Today’s research scholars may be more sophisticated than their predecessors in using some of the basic functions of many systems, however many are clearly unaware of the limitations and use of many electronic sources of information. Research scholars and faculty members entering research appear to have raised expectations about the capabilities of electronic resources. So this type of book is significant and important in the new IT Era.
